Burrata Caprese Salad

Burrata Caprese Salad

Dear Fine Dining Enthusiasts

This dish for breakfast? Yes, I have it for breakfast.

Who eats burrata salad with tomatoes for breakfast? I do. It can be for brunch too. I know, it is not a dish people eat for breakfast but I believe it is really an interesting out of the ordinary kind of breakfast and super delicious. You can always it as a starter as it is usually traditionally served.

This dish is super delicious. A mix of the tang and sourness of the vinaigrette together with the burrata gives this dish a very yummy flavor. Dipping the bread in the vinaigrette eating it at the same time as the burrata creates an orgasmic sensation in my mouth. The tang and richness of this combination is such a huge pleasure and a volcanic explosion in your mouth as well as a feeling of tenderness even feeling loved as you eat this dish. This dish makes me feel warmth and comfort and transports me all the way to Italy. I only visited ventiemille which is a very small town next to France. where I ate the most delicious out of this world ice-cream. Since then I am dreaming of visiting this country which I will.

I order this dish quiet often. I tried similar versions in other restaurants but at Industria pizzeria they make it the best. At least to my taste.

I discovered this dish when I was sick and after I had surgery for melanoma cancer. I couldn’t eat much afterwards, and I needed a light dish I can easily digest, enjoy and that can satisfy my hunger. This dish was perfect at that time.

What is Burrata Cheese?

Burrata is as white as mozzarella but comes with a strange narrowing at the top like a giant dumpling. When you poke it with a knife or fork curious to know what is lying inside you get the filling made of cream and mozzarella strips with your fork like spaghetti and with cream dripping you have the first bite: You get this wonderful explosion of milk mixed with sweet cream taste and mozzarella with a yummy mouthwatering orgasmic sensation. You want this bite to last because it is so amazingly delicious and comforting.

Origins of Burrata.

According to the BBC Burrata was created in 1920 under the shade of the castle in Italy’s Apulia region, burrata was born out of the need to minimize food waste and it also a great example of human ingenuity. Burrata can be found around the world predominantly in high-end food stores and restaurants. According to the Italian dairy association Assoaltte, 56 million dollars worth of burrata was produced in Italy in 2018. Burrata was distributed to Rome cafes, Tokyo markets and New-York restaurants. Italian immigrants exported the recipe around the world, and today, Burrata is produced in places from Estonia to Argentina. Burrata is used to top Neapolitan pizza, on the side of shrimps or as accompaniment to Spaghetti al pomodoro or even as a salad like in my dish.

The origin of this dish

This dish is originally an Italian caprese salad known as insalata Caprese. It is an Italian salad composed with tomatoes, burrata cheese, basil, olive oil. This dish originated from the island of Capri which is an island off the coast of Italy near Naples. The traditional way is usually slices of fresh tomatoes with mozzarella cheese layered with basil leaves. It is finished with sea salt and a generous drizzle of olive oil. A caprese is arranged beautifully on a plate and usually not in a salad bowl. It is generally served as a starter and not as a side dish. If you notice the color of the ingredients represent the Italian flag. The red of the tomato, the green of the basil and the white of Mozzarella. In addition, they are also the traditional food products of Italy.

While researching I found out…  that there are many versions of this salad and that some people invented a version in a salad bowl that includes vinegar as well. My salad had red wine vinegar, but I also have seen some versions with balsamic vinegar. My salad also included bread.

Industria Pizzeria Restaurant

At this restaurant you can also find some other dishes like pizza. They specialize in pizza, but they have other wonderful dishes like pasta, salads, and appetizers. I also tried their meatballs with ricotta cheese and tortellini. The tortellini were also super yummy. It had not too much sauce just the right amount. I will have a blog post on it soon.

Tortellini with Rose sauce

Dear Fine Dining Enthusiasts

This dish is from the same restaurant as the Burrata  Caprese Salad.

This dish impressed me as well and I thought I must share it with you. This dish is unique because the sauce is not too much as all the other similar dishes from other restaurants and because the amount of sauce is just right and not too watery or too much is what distinguishes this dish from other restaurants and actually offers a different taste.

The pasta is fully and perfectly cooked Al dente. The filling is with veal which I love because it makes it a good satisfying satiable lunch or dinner. Yes I know this is not breakfast or brunch, could be if you want to. I ate it for supper. It gives it a very velvety taste like you are eating silk comforting yummy tender tortellini and cooked to perfection. it has this type of balance in all flavors and texture that is really hard to describe. There is a beautiful concert of the pasta being Al dente and not too soggy as well as the silkiness and some tenderness that it comes with it.

When I eat this dish I feel I am on a romantic escapade somewhere in Italy with my future boyfriend or maybe husband with this beautiful warm feeling of comfort and full relaxation as well as an explosion of deliciousness. This dish to me is definitely fine-dining and it brings it to the next level while branding this restaurant from other similar ones. I feel these dishes are made with love and very careful care which I absolutely love.
