Monaco Waffles: Waffles with warm apples and cinnamon.

 

Have you ever had waffles with warm apples with cinnamon, brie cheese, bacon marmalade, walnuts and egg on top? That is what this dish is one I never ate anywhere else and it can be eaten only in this breakfast restaurant. Surprisingly, it comes with maple syrup too during the high maple making season in Quebec Canada. This dish is called...The Monaco. I absolutely love this very unique name. This name rises my curiosity as to what it may be and it a very unusual distinct name. I believe the owner had a brilliant idea calling this dish with this name.

 

Do you want to try a dish you might never tried before? I never tried such combination. I am usually the type who likes Eggs with crepe, potatoes, French toast and fruits or eggs with something that has avocado. This type of dish is totally out of my comfort zone. I decided to try it and guess what… it was spectacularly amazing. The waffles were tender, the gooiness of the cheese, the comfort of warm apples with cinnamon and the surprising, exquisite taste of the bacon gremolada that was both sweet and salty and the crunchiness of the walnuts together with the beautiful sweetness of the maple syrup that elevated the dish and gave it more sweetness and tenderness. I must say the mix of these beautiful ingredients created such a beautiful taste and an outstanding one. To top it off the warm maple syrup drizzled all over it that added tenderness to the dish.

Every bite I took made me think of eating a warm apple pie like the one your mother or grandmother made but in a totally different creative way. It transported me to some warm memories with my children and my parents and my aunts and uncles. It is like taking the nostalgia train to the past with warm loving hugging memories.

 

The Cafe au Lait

This is a French Coffee usually served in a bowl. Cafe au lait is usually a coffee with hot milk added. It differs from white coffee which is coffee with cold milk or other whiteners added. It is made of equal parts of steamed milk and strong coffee combined to make the perfect mellow beverage. This coffee originated in France.

There are variations of this coffee in other parts of Europe. In Spain this drink is known as cafe con leche while the Germans call it milchkaffee. It is usually made with espresso.

Why do we drink it in a bowl originally? According to Tom Clark, who is the co-founder and president of Coutume Cafe in Paris France the bowl allows the drinker to dunk their pastries into the coffee during breakfast.

 

How is it different from other similar coffees?

This coffee differs from other coffees such as cafe latte and flat white. The flat white is an espresso with a small amount of steamed milk and a thin layer of foam. The latte is espresso topped with two distinct and thicker layers of steamed and foamed milk. The Cappuccino is foamier, the flat white is stronger in taste and the latte is milkier. According to my taste this version tasted not as creamy as the other coffees and not as rich as the other coffees. I loved the taste of the coffee. I could feel the strength of the espresso and the milkiness while it was not too strong and conserved it's aroma. There was foam on top too. It was served in a bowl. In this restaurant you can also have it in a cup.

The restaurant offers breakfast, brunch and lunch. The restaurant serves fresh ingredients daily and ensures that all ingredients are safe. This restaurant opened on this street not long ago to replace another restaurant that was called Eggs style.

The restaurant has a huge variety of dishes and drinks like cocktails, smoothies, coffees. They have unique combinations of ingredients for their dishes that you don’t find anywhere else that brands the restaurant from the others and their prices are affordable and food delicious. If you are sophisticated you can find interesting mixes of ingredients, if you like simple you can have something simple. If you take of your health, you can find something healthy. If you are a meat lover there is something for you too. There is something for everyone in this restaurant and that is why I love it so much because I have a huge choice and I can eat combinations I don’t find anywhere else. Personally, I love avocado on the side, and I have several dishes where I can find avocado on the side.
