What is Cortado Coffee?
Cortado Coffee is a unique coffee bland that is one to one ratio of espresso coffee and Spanish milk. It is not cappuccino, nor mochaccino nor macchiato. According to me it is something in between all these coffees. This coffee is a bit creamy, yet not too strong. It is a balanced coffee, and it is originally drank unsweetened. Personally, I find that it has a bit of a nutty aftertaste. It feels soft and very pleasant to drink. I love that the flavor is very balanced. I found the taste to be a mix of bit watery and creamy What . I can definitely feel the espresso a bit, but it is not pronounced.
This was the first time I heard about this coffee. It was my first time tasting it. My version didn’t have a lot of milk. When I googled it, I saw that there are more creamy versions. It was small portion.
What is the origin?
The “Cortado” is actually originated in Spain. The word Cortado comes from the Spanish word ‘Cortar’ which means “to cut” or “cutting”.
The preparation of the Cortado involves “cutting” the intensity of the espresso by adding a small amount of steamed Spanish milk directly into the espresso. The ratio of the milk is 1:1. Certain versions use slightly higher proportion of espresso.
How is the Cortado different than other similar coffees?
What distinguishes the Cortado from the other similar coffees is the serving size. It is right in the middle between Macchiato and Cappuccino. Macchiato is very small. Cortado is a bit bigger mostly medium and macchiato the biggest.
In addition, I find that all the different coffees vary in terms of the level and intensity of the espresso and the creaminess. Some are stronger and less creamy, and some are creamier and more decadent than others.
I tasted many coffees before and I really wanted to taste a coffee that is less popular and known. I wanted to explore something new. I must admit I was pleasantly surprised.

Try the Food too.
I really didn’t expect this coffee to be so good. The food was also good if you are interested in exploring. I ate the hamburger. I am not a vegan, but I do eat gluten free and dairy free. The food was so amazing that I didn’t feel it is vegan at all. I will go back and try other dishes. They also serve Breakfast and brunch on Saturdays, and they have a variety of dishes on their brunch menu. This restaurant serves Breakfast, Lunch and diner.
